“Triúr Nuns” (Three Nuns) from Fís | Inseacht

A visual arts exhibition by Cathal Ó Cuaig and Katharina Gebhardt which opened officially in Áras Sorcha Ní Ghuairim, Carna on Monday April 2, 2012. This project evolved from work carried out by Ó Cuaig in the last year in collecting folkloric stories historiographies from Iorras Aithneach. A thematically broad range of stories have been collected. These include religious stories, ghost stories, stories of the living memory “old time,” comedic stories and superstitions. In the end, just nine of these were selected for this installation, which encompasses video and photography. Katharina Gebhardt has spent a number of years as a visual artist, photographer and director in Berlin and is based in Galway at present. She focuses on story-telling in her work. Cathal Ó Cuaig is himself a native of Áill na Brún and is involved in recent years in film-making. His directorial debut “An Cluiche,” premiered at the Dingle Film Festival, March 2012.
